Hyannis Library to Host Steinway Piano Exhibit and Lectures
“The Evolution of a Steinway Piano: An American Success Story,” a traveling exhibit featuring the American-made instrument that is widely acknowledged as the world’s finest piano, will make its debut at the Hyannis Public Library, 401 Main Street, Hyannis, from Jan. 24 through March 1, 2012. The exhibit is free and open to the public. The exhibit is sponsored by M. Steinert & Sons of Boston, the oldest music store in America.
In addition to the exhibit, two lectures will be presented at the Hyannis Library by experts in the field. The first lecture will be held on Tuesday, February 7, 2012, at 6:30 pm; and the second lecture will be held Saturday, February 25, 2012, at 11:30 am. The lectures are also free and open to the public.
“The Evolution of a Steinway Piano: An American Success Story” exhibit features a Steinway Model B Grand Piano that has been cross-sectioned to expose its inner workings, as well as an historical timeline and videos on the year-long manufacturing process that goes into every Steinway piano.
